The purpose of this organization shall be to provide funds for the growth and development of audiences for the live performing arts; to present world class artists, and to support the fine arts and artists in the Greater East San Diego County area (we are a 501(c)3 organization).
Friends of East County Arts, Inc., have been giving awards to the winning entrants since the 1st Annual Jewelry Competition, May 3rd 2009, hosted by Terry Whyte of Golden Artistry Jewelry Design, for the Grossmont Union High School students.

The 2011 Grand Prize Winner, Ashley Charlton, a junior and AP student at West Hills High School in Santee, received $125 from Friends for her pendant entry "Cascade." In addition, her design was created by Terry Whyte, Master Goldsmith, and presented to her at the May 5th event.

Each year the cash winners include:
